This high quality lithograph from the city of Puebla depicts the Christ of Labors who is wearing a crown of thorns and carrying a cross. The print is surrounded by scalloped tin edges on a simple, yet charmingly decorated punched tin nicho that still exhibits traces of its original polychrome finishes through the oxidation of the tin. The original, winged appendages have been lost, however, the delicately detailed, scalloped lunette is very much intact and remains in its original position.
The type of float glass with intrinsic imperfections and coloration of the tin indicate that the piece dates to the early 20th century. Originally hung in a home altar for private devotion.
