The Black Christ is the Christ of Esquipulas.  Esquipulas, Guatemala is one of the most important Roman Catholic shrines and central America´s biggest pilgrimage site.  The Christ is in a wooden niche and is carved out of wood.  Crucified on a wooden cross, he is surrounded by paper flowers.  Colored tin foil pieces decorate his tin crown and the knot that is part of the loincloth.
